Why raise awareness? Homelessness is often overlooked in our area. Homeless people are often not sleeping in cardboard boxes or tents in plain view. It is a minority of homeless people who sit at street corners together with a cardboard sign asking for spare change. An alarming amount of homeless people in Goldsboro are under the age of 18 and are attending our schools.
Why raise funds? Many of the programs in Wayne County are dependent upon donations and fundraisers to help provide food and shelter to the needy. We want to help those programs reach more families and to increase the quantity and quality of help. Many groups and individuals are seeking ways to narrow the mission field to our own backyard but are unsure of where their money will go or who will benefit from their help. Cardboard City of Goldsboro is hoping to bring our community together to answer the question “What can I do to help?”
